Fresh from snapping an innocent waitress’s spine in “American Gothic,” Elena (Nina Dobrev) is ready to cause some major trouble when she returns to her hometown. Not only does she get on Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) nerves, and not only is she so wild she actually needs to have someone tell her not to “eat the prom queen,” but she also tries to pit the Salvatores against each other by telling Damon (Ian Somerhalder) she feels “nothing for him” only to later spend the evening wrapped up in Stefan’s strong arms. (Long sigh.)
